Mauritania - The energy sector is setting up a $ 5 million fund to support renewable energy and signed two exploration and production contracts with TOTAL
Nouakchott, December 12th 2018 - On the occasion of the opening of the International Mining, Oil & Gas Forum Mauritanides 2018, the Minister of Petroleum, Energy and Mines Mr. Mohamed ABDEL VETAH signed on the first day of the forum on behalf of the Mauritanian government two contracts for exploration and production with the Total oil company represented by Mr. Guy MAURICE, Director of TOTAL Africa.
This is related to sections C15 and C31 located in the offshore of Mauritania.
A third new contract was signed under which an investor fund of US $ 5 million was set up to develop renewable energies and enhance access to electricity services in the cities of KIFFA and NEMA located in the east region of Mauritania.
The Minister stressed the importance of this agreement, which is signed on the sidelines of the first day of the conference Mauritanides, which has become a regular occasion to inform the actors about Mauritania’s wealth in the fields of mines and hydrocarbons and its advantages related to security and stability.
He added that the signing of this agreement and the certificates made by the heads of the major international companies working in the field in their interventions today is a good witness to the developments that Mauritania has experienced over the past years, which covered all fields.
The presence of the largest international oil companies in our country is an additional push to value and develop our oil and energy resources in a way that serves the interests of our country and improves the living conditions of citizens and preserve the environment.
